Dear Colleagues,

For the first time the theme of the conference is EMDR and Dissociation. All EMDR therapists are confronted with dissociation in their clinical practice in one way or another, therefore it is important to give ‘dissociation’ the large stage of an EMDR Europe conference.

Dissociation is included in the program of the EMDR Europe accredited standard training and is the topic of numerous seminars; however, the definition of ‘dissociation’ is multiple and its implications in EMDR therapy is subject to debate and disagreements. During this conference we want to address these issues with the aim to clarify the concept of dissociation and to support EMDR therapists in their clinical practice when they face such a complex phenomenon. This is why renowned presenters in this field have been selected for the keynote presentations and the pre-conference workshops.

The 2027 conference program will be different from previous conferences: apart from the main theme of the conference ‘dissociation’, we have also selected certain topics we want to give more visibility by attracting specific submissions. We will have new formats of presentation, making transmission of knowledge more attractive and interactive as well, especially between researchers and clinicians. Of course, we will have the open submission process for presentations and posters, and the Scientific Committee, chaired by Michael Hase, is committed as usual, to set up an interesting program to please all EMDR clinicians with different interests, as well as researchers.

The Swiss community of EMDR therapists will be proud and happy to welcome to Lausanne colleagues from all over Europe and beyond. Switzerland is a country of 9 millions inhabitants with four official languages and many of our clinicians speak another European language as well. This makes the country highly multicultural and this should give your stay in Lausanne a friendly and cosmopolitan touch. Lausanne has been ranked the ‘best small city in the world’, a city where you can enjoy a walk in one of the numerous parks! a walk in the vineyards in the outskirts of the city, a run on the shore of the Geneva lake, a swim in the lake, or enjoy a cheese fondue! Always with a magnificent view of the Alps. It will be a great pleasure for me to welcome you in my hometown!
